Kæbeledsalloplastik – en behandlingsmulighed ved kæbeledsdysfunktion
Kæbeledsrekonstruktion efter kæbeledsdysfunktion ser ud til at være en rationel og sikker operation. Når de traditionelle behandlingstilbud ikke har givet det forventede resultat for kroniske smertepatienter, kan en relativt ny teknik med total kæbeledsrekonstruktion med både ledskål (fossa) og ledhoved (caput) være et endeligt og pålideligt behandlingsalternativ. På baggrund af egne erfaringer fra 15 kæbeledsrekonstruktioner hos 13 patienter og fra den internationale litteratur kan en mere fysiologisk og sikker rekonstruktion af kæbeleddet forventes. Patienterne har færre gener, reducerede smerter og en næsten normal gabefunktion sammenlignet med ældre kirurgiske teknikker.

Total alloplastic reconstruction – a treatment option in temporomandibular joint disorders. Preliminary observations af ter inser tion of 15 prostheses in 13 patients: Total joint reconstruction after temporomandibular dysfunction has proved a rational and safe surgical technique. When traditional techniques do not provide the expected outcome for chronic pain patients, a relatively new technique with complete joint reconstruction including both a fossa and a ramus component, may be a final and a reliable treatment alternative. Based on our own experience from 15 total joint replacements in thirteen patients and the international literature, a more biocompatible and safe reconstruction of the temporomandibular joint can be expected. Patients have less morbidity, reduced pain and almost normalized range of mouth opening as compared to older surgical techniques.
