Derfor er det væsentligt, at den tandlæge, der modtager patienten, har overblik, undersøger systematisk, stiller rigtige diagnoser og giver en rationel og gennemførlig akut behandling med god prognose. This article describes briefly the investigation and treatment of trauma in permanent dentition. Traumas in the permanent dentition are common. The child and parents may on arrival at the clinicbe nervous. What will happen to the traumatized tooth? What are the implications of the trauma? It is essential, therefore that the dentist who receives the patient has a complete overview, gives accurate diagnosis, conducts systematic investigation, and provides rational and workable acute treatment with good prognosis. It is especially important to assess the risk of late effects, and to diagnose them as early as possible in order to provide an optimal acute treatment.
