Caries diagnosis and risk assessment in the dental surgery on an adult patient
Background – The purpose in presenting this case, where the patient mainly has cariology problems, is to visualize the diagnosticand treatment principles discussed in the previous paper. Case – The anamnestical, radiographic and clinical examination leads to caries diagnoses and risk assessments. The diagnosis progressive dental caries with the sub-diagnoses superfi cialis, media or profunda, results in a sign related treatment plan. The risk assessment reveals a patient with high risk of getting caries in the future, requiring a risk related treatment plan to be prepared. Conclusion – It can be concluded that the patient has a clear need for caries treatment involving non-invasive, operative treatment including stepwise excavation, as well as risk related interventions such as instruction in toothbrushing with 1.450 ppm fl uoridated toothpaste and diet advises
