Alle tandlæger er fortrolige med lokalanalgesi. Mange tandlæger er mindre fortrolige med sedation. Udbuddet af farmaka til både lokalanalgesi og sedation er overskueligt, og det er denne artikels formål at beskrive virkningen af de to typer farmaka hver for sig og sammen. Endvidere gives forslag til valg af præparat, dosering og applikationsmåde af sedativa til børn og voksne.

Local anaesthesia and sedation: All dental practitioners are supposed to master the use of local anaesthesia. Conversely, many colleagues are less familiar with sedation. The supply of drugs for both local anaesthesia and sedation is manageable, and it is the purpose of this article to describe the effect of the two types of drugs, separately and together. Further, suggestions for choice of treatment, dosage and mode of application of sedatives for children and adults will be given.
