Bedömning av behandlingsbehov – behandlingsinriktning
Diagnostik och behandlingsplanering har I de flesta odontologiska sammanhang uppfattats som en intraoral och dental fråga för att lösa ett sjukdoms- eller ett funktionsproblem. På senare år har övergripande bedömningar av behov och patientens egna önskemål fått ökad betydelse och i till exempel estetisk tandvård blivit det helt avgörande. I en del fall med ett ganska högt biologiskt pris. Kunskapen om ”hur patienten upplever sin situation före och efter en behandling, när det gäller funktion, komfort och livsstil, samt hur patienten ser på sin egen roll i behandlingen” har luckor enligt de svenska Nationella riktlinjerna för vuxentandvård. Med litteraturgenomgång, diskussion och kliniska, illustrativa exempel belyses detta för att utgöra grund för fortgående eftertanke och fördjupning.
Treatment needs and decision making approaches: Diagnosis, treatment-planning and decision-making has in most dental contexts been connected to intraoral and dental consideration to solve a decease or functional problem. During the last few decades a wider view including aspects on needs and demands has come forward. In esthetic dentistry individual wishes have almost taken over from professional judgments, sometimes with a high biological price. The Swedish National Guidelines, 2011, point out that there are still gaps in the knowledge of how patients experience a condition before and after treatment, in relation to function, comfort and life-style, and of the patients feeling of involvement in the process. These aspects of dental care are considered, using literature review discussions and clinical examples, to create the basis for further exploration and analysis.
